Second half April normal service resumes
#1
For those in the UK and northwestern Europe, there is growing confidence in the numerical models of a pattern change by mid-April. The weeks of dry weather and above average temperatures looks like being pushed out.

A cooler regime with a west to northwesterly flow takes hold, essentially it's a more typical pattern for this time of year across western, and north western Europe, and yes that means unsettled.

Good for the ground which has seen very little rain during March and April so far, but from next week it does look like a change is coming. Enjoy the next six or seven days if you're a sun lover!

Southwestern Europe can be happy too. The recent conveyor train of low pressures system through the Iberian peninsula, Morocco and the Canaries is coming to an end. They've no doubt needed the rain after years of dry winters depleting the water supplies, but I imagine this intense rainfall for a month has hit crop growers.
