Some serious heat building into southwestern USA.

Just look at these 500hpa geopot heights forecast for the coming days approaching 600dam from northern Mexico into southwestern USA.

That's mid-summer heatwave territory!!!

The 850hpa temperatures show potential low 40 to mid 40 celcius (at the surface) for the Sonoran desert region.

With a switch to El Nino, this heat dome could become a sustained feature through the summer, perhaps even expanding.
