    Western Med flash flooding potential

An upper level low (storm Harry!) over the Iberian peninsula is forecast to bring some high rainfall totals to eastern Spain and the Balearics today and in the next couple of days. Tuesday and Wednesday look particularly wet, with convective activity expected causing flash flooding. I think...

    Geocache

I used to Geocache a lot when I lived in Cornwall, circa 2010 to 2017. Great way to get the kids outdoors and get them active, and I actually really enjoyed it too. The best thing for me was going to places I would never normally go. I found some great locations and of course it was good fun. I...

    Potential cold end to January

Some very frigid temperatures across eastern Europe. Ukraine and Belarus not climbing over -15c all day, some locations in Belarus reported low maximums of -23c. Will have a look at the forecast models when the next runs come through.

    Potential cold end to January

The classic Scandinavian high setup that was being "warned off" on certain sites has all but dissipated. Can't wait to see how they explain where the "beast" or "wall of snow" has gone!!!! Looks like a cooling trend starting next week, but I don't see any of that frigid air over Russia and...

    Potential cold end to January

There's a lot of chatter (and a lot of crap) being posted on social media about a potential cold spell coming toward the latter half this month. This is mostly for northern, central and western Europe, but as I say, there is some extreme amounts of enthusiasm about this with the forecast model...

    Weather and the media

Over the last few months I have toyed with the idea of creating a Facebook group with the hope of moving the discussion to a social media environment. It was here that I appreciated that Facebook and social media in general just is not a good place for a weather group if we want to avoid...

Incredible imagery of the storm on latest satellite. Show's a potential sting jet, no wonder the UKMO has issued a red warning.

    Storm Goretti

The warm front will passage through most of the Netherlands bringing rain, perhaps starting as mixed precip for an hour. The far north of the Netherlands looks likely to remain on the cold side of the low, more chance of staying as snow and mixed precip. As the low exits, all of the Netherlands...

    Storm Goretti

Folks on the southern coast of England, Brittany, Normandy and through the channel need to be aware, the prognostics call for a period of very strong winds Thursday evening and early Friday morning. We could be looking at gusts to 85mph (135+kph) in these regions.

    European snow cover

At present, Europe is seeing it's most extensive snow cover since 2019. One to cause heated debate between the believers and non believers over global warming!
