A great temperature contrast across Europe this weekend, as forecast for Sunday afternoon reveals. Well below -20 °C in the north-northeast as Arctic cold from Russia spreads against the warmth over the southern Mediterranean region.

Another day of temperatures contrasts across Europe. Approx 40c difference between northern Finland (coldest) and southern Spain (warmest).

Yesterday, St. Gladie in south-west France hit a maximum of 29.7c. A number of records were broken for February heat. Spain saw widespread temperatures 25 to 29c.

And at the other end of the scale, Greenland is seeing almost record cold temperatures for the end of February.
