Absolutely nuts and a bit of an outlier in all likelihood, but the GFS has ridiculously stormy scenario toward the end of next week for Ireland and western Scotland. 920mb, unlikely but still it looks impressive!!

Next week looks potentially very unsettled for northwestern Europe, a powerful jetstream screaming out of north America looks likely to kick out this crappy weather pattern we've been stuck in for some time and return us to a more traditional weather pattern, and that means wet and windy.......perhaps even stormy.

The hint of a cold spell building next week has all but vanished from the forecast models.

....and yet nothing might happen, there quite a strong blocking pattern next week. Models are struggling at the 7-10 day range, it's a complicated pattern developing next week with thanks to the cold weather over North America.

It's about time the weather livened up and we have something to chew on :D

One of the major ingredients is there for stormy weather, that jetstream (jet streak) is surreal coming out of north America and over the Atlantic.

The models are still projecting a potent and deep low for the end of the week and into the weekend, track as you would expect is wide ranging between the models. The GFS is still overcooking how deep this low goes at the moment. But this coming week looks exciting for weather geeks in northwestern Europe!

Potentially destructive storm in the making next Friday and into the weekend. It's still far too early to be sure, but the concern should be there. Anywhere in UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Scandi countries and surrounding regions could be hit hard, and there are hints of a second deep low to follow. Lot of complication thrown in, how strong the block pattern over most of Europe will be will determine how things will unfold.

Lots of variation in the model runs from all the globals.

Ireland is in the crosshairs of the 12z CMC, absolutely nuts modeled wind gusts approaching Ireland. That's hurricane force gusts folks

There's a little bit of consistency showing, at the moment the stormiest conditions look like avoiding the low countries, Ireland and Scotland on the other hand!
