Due to the orientation of the blocking pattern over north western Europe, a late and very cold plunge of air is descending down through eastern Europe bringing some very cold temperatures (for the time of year) as far south as Greece and parts of Italy.
For those taking a vacation to the Adriatic, this might not be beach weather for a number of days.
Some of the cooler air is pushing into the low countries toward the UK, all be it moderated.
