Large parts of Denmark are currently snow-covered, with the deepest accumulations reported in Jylland and some local pockets on Sjælland.
Approximately 30cm in the north to barely a dusting in the west and south.
The setup is consistent with a Scandinavian blocking high over Fennoscandia, maintaining an easterly low-level flow into Denmark and sustaining a cold near-surface airmass. Periods of snowfall are most plausibly linked to episodes where moist air and ascent overlap on the southern flank of the block (often with additional moisture uptake over the Baltic and adjacent waters), while a nearby upper-level cold pool/trough increases instability and supports snow showers/bands.
This comes after Denmark recorded its coldest January since 2010.
